OUR
HOE CREW

Donna Price
Donna has been gardening and landscaping
for over 20 years using a strong ethos of organic practices. For 12
years she was the manager of the Organic Vegetable Garden at Warren
Wilson College where she received an academic degree. Her interests
lie in the use of native plants and edibles, with a focus on permaculture
techniques. Donna's own garden includes a wealth of perennials, evergreens,
vegetables and berries, as well as sculpture and stonework. As a metal
and wood sculptor, her aesthetic gardening style is influenced by her
art.
Donna strives to create a garden and landscape environment
that captivates the imagination. She is The Dirty Hoe's head garden
designer and field consultant.

Heidi Zednik
Heidi's approach to gardening and landscaping
rests solidly in her artistic background as a painter. She sees a landscape
as an extension of self-expression, unique to each individual. Her
field experience includes years of creating and maintaining her private
gardens, with several years of gardening experience in the Chapel Hill
area during which time she earned a Master's of Fine Arts.
Heidi is The Dirty Hoe's head office wrangler; she also
regularly works in the field with the rest of the crew. |
Christopher Watts is an intrepid explorer
and traveler. In addition to being a dirty hoe crew member, he is a
working massage therapist, specializing in intuitive energy work and
neuromuscular therapy. He can be reached at Listening Hands 828-778-
2185. He also enjoys hiking, camping, fishing, swimming, paddling and
cooking. He lives in Weaverville with his cat. |
Sara Waterman has lived and worked with plants in Louisiana,
Mississippi, and Ohio, mindfully producing food on farms and even
on an old parking lot in the city! She has shared the
joy of raising vegetables, flowers, mushrooms, bees, and worms with
folks of all ages. Home-baked bread and good old New Orleans
music also bring smiles and even a little wigglin'. With great
respect for the fellow Hoes and the knowledge they readily share,
she's glad to find such a home in Asheville. |
Beckett is a native of Asheville and a part-time
poodle hoe. Her specialties include retrieving, tool guarding, and
crew amusement. Beckett’s earlier employment ranges from assistant
college registrar and office manager to part-time realtor. Her communication
skills with adults, children and cats are superb.
